Navigating Turkish immigration law requires precise knowledge, careful timing, and consistent follow-through. Requirements shift, processing timelines vary, and a single missed document can delay an entire relocation. We take full ownership of this complexity — coordinating every step on behalf of the employer and the employee so that legal compliance never becomes a bottleneck for the business or a source of anxiety for the assignee.
CONSULAR ASSSISTANCE FOR ENTRY VISA
Before an employee sets foot in Turkey, the entry visa process must be correctly handled. We provide a thorough assessment of the applicable visa category based on nationality, assignment type, and intended duration of stay, and advise on the most appropriate route from the outset.
Our team prepares and reviews the full documentation package required for the consulate, guides the applicant through the appointment booking process, and provides a clear checklist of what to bring and what to expect. Where the consulate requires specific supporting letters or employer declarations, we prepare these in the correct format. We monitor the application status and flag any queries from the consulate promptly, so that responses are provided without delay and the visa is issued in time for the planned start date.
WORK PERMIT
Turkish work permit legislation places distinct obligations on both the employer and the employee. Permit categories, quotas, required documentation, and renewal timelines all carry legal weight — and errors or delays in the process can affect an employee's right to work and an employer's compliance standing.
We manage the entire process from initial assessment through to permit issuance. This begins with identifying the correct permit type for the assignment and preparing the employer sponsorship file in line with the requirements of the Ministry of Labour and Social Security. We compile and review all supporting documents, submit the application through the appropriate channels, track processing progress, and liaise with the authorities on any additional requests. As renewal deadlines approach, we proactively alert HR and initiate the renewal process in advance to ensure there is no gap in the employee's authorisation to work.
RESIDENCE PERMIT
Navigating the legal residency requirements is essential for a stable stay. Our services include:
Legal residency status in Turkey must be established, maintained, and formally closed at each stage of an assignment. This is not a one-time procedure — it requires active management across the full assignment lifecycle.
Application Management: We handle the preparation and submission of first-time residence permit applications, extensions as the permit approaches expiry, and category changes where the nature of the assignment evolves. Each submission is checked for completeness and accuracy before filing, and we attend the appointment alongside the employee where required.
Information Updates: Personal circumstances change during an assignment — a change of address, a change of marital status, or a new family member joining can all require formal notification to the authorities. We manage these updates proactively and ensure the employee's permit record remains accurate with the relevant offices at all times.
Address Registration & ID Card Procedures: Turkish law requires formal registration at the local Population Directorate following a change of residence. We coordinate this process, prepare the required documentation, and accompany the employee where needed. We also assist with obtaining the Foreigner Identification Number (YKN) and related ID documentation for employees new to Turkey.
Deregistration: When an assignment ends, formal deregistration is a legal requirement. We manage the official closure of the employee's residency record with the authorities, ensuring there are no outstanding obligations that could affect future visits to Turkey or the employer's compliance record.
